I am Fionn from Ireland, a member of SRF. Like countless more, I had a brief and very positive exchange with Dr Parker in The India Gift Shop in the Bonaventure Hotel during a Convocation about 5 years ago. I am sure Paramahansa Yogananda orchestrated it all. I could not play any musical instrument but had been inspired to take up the harmonium. I was looking at harmoniums in The India Gift Shop when Dr Parker began to guide me. He suggested I could start with an easier chant and he proceeded to play I Am the Bubble, Make Me the Sea. He convinced me by demonstrating that the fingerwork on that chant is not too challenging for a beginner. He also helped me to choose the harmonium most suited to me. Playing the harmonium has helped all aspects of my life. I will always treasure the memory of that brief but gracious exchange with dear Dr. Parker. He benefitted so many in his life. His family have every reason to be proud of his life and individuals such as I in SRF recall him as a dear brother.
